Composed of 20 vertical iron slabs, Wave is a three-dimensional representation of a sound wave that simultaneously evokes the rhythmic motion of the water. Positioned on the banks of the Isonzo river, the sculpture’s profile dynamically echoes the shifting flow and seasonal fluctuations of the river itself.
The artwork captures a transient moment: the sound of sea waves was recorded, analyzed, and graphically synthesized into twenty vertical lines that define the sculpture’s modular, fluid silhouette.
Conceptually, the artwork crystallizes a fleeting acoustic phenomenon into a heavy, permanent material. The fluid and ephemeral nature of sound becomes silent and static, challenging the viewer to experience a natural sound through pure visual perception.
